Meats & Sweets: Community Cookoff

Now’s your chance to prove it!
Join us for our first-ever Meats & Sweets Contest during the Cowboy Cookout House Party. Whether you’re known for your smoked brisket, award-worthy ribs, famous cookies, or homemade pie, we invite you to compete for bragging rights, prizes, and the title of Community Cookoff Champion!
Competition Categories
1. Meats (Choose One):
- Chicken
- Ribs (Beef or Pork)
- Steak
- Beef Brisket
2. Sweets (Choose One):
- Cake or Cupcakes
- Pie or Tart
- Cookies or Dessert Bars
Cookoff Rules:
Contestants may compete individually or as a team.
Each contestant/team must prepare enough food for:
- Five official judges
- Approximately 25 guest sample portions
- Participants are responsible for providing all equipment, supplies, serving utensils, and food needed for their entry.
Important Times:
On-site cooking may begin no earlier than 12:00 PM
All judge submissions must be turned in by 6:30 PM
Late submissions cannot be accepted.

Meat Competition
1. What type of grill or smoker may I use?
- Backyard Cookers (BYC) are permitted.
- A Backyard Cooker is any portable cooking device intended for recreational cooking, including charcoal grills, pellet grills, smokers, gas grills, and similar backyard cooking equipment.
2. What if my equipment doesn’t fit the requirements?

3. What meat categories are available?
Choose ONE:
- Chicken
- Ribs
- Steak (Beef or Pork)
- Beef Brisket
4. How should meat be prepared?
- Each contestant must prepare five clearly separated portions for judging.
- Chicken and brisket may be chopped, sliced, diced, pulled, or prepared as the cook prefers, provided there is enough for five judges.
- Ribs must be submitted bone-in.
- Contestants must also prepare approximately 50 guest sample portions.
Sweet Competition
1. What dessert categories are available?
Choose ONE:
- Cake or Cupcakes
- Pie or Tart
- Cookies or Dessert Bars
2. How should desserts be prepared?
- Each contestant must prepare five individual judging portions.
- Judging portions should be full slices, full cookies, full bars, or full cupcakes.
- Guest samples may be cut into smaller tasting portions.
- Contestants should also prepare approximately 100 guest samples.
