This year, our word for the year for our church is UPGRADE. We're asking God to help us upgrade in several areas, and one of them is our overall Health and Fitness. The Change Fit Initiative is relaunching and this year, its about more than fitness. Living with optimal health is a catalyst for being able to do what God has created you to do. The CHANGE Fit Initiative was established to provide resources that will fully equip you to succeed in establishing a lifestyle of regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, and positive change across all dimensions of your wellness. Wellness Wheel presents eight dimensions of our lives that directly affect our overall well-being. Assessing the level of attention, or lack thereof, given to these eight dimensions can help shine some light on action steps we can take to increase equilibrium amongst the dimensions, resulting in improved overall well-being.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Occupying pleasant and stimulating environments (both social and natural) that support your well-being.
FINANCIAL
Managing your income and expenses to create satisfaction for the present and the future.
SPIRITUAL
Expanding your sense of purpose centered on personal beliefs and values.
VOCATIONAL
Enjoying personal satisfaction and enrichment from your profession and choices of work.
EMOTIONAL
Coping effectively with life, including its challenges, stressors, and joys.
SOCIAL
Cultivating satisfaction in relationships and developing a sense of connection and belonging within support systems.
PHYSICAL
Enjoying healthy nutrition, adequate sleep, and regular physical activity; preventing and managing illness and health conditions.
MENTAL
Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills.
Setting s.m.a.r.t goals for making improvements in your eight dimensions of wellness
Setting goals provides clarity and direction. Without clear goals, you may find yourself wandering aimlessly, making it challenging to measure progress or know if you’re heading in the right direction. In essence, setting goals illuminates the path forward, making it easier to navigate and achieve desired outcomes.
Establishing S.M.A.R.T. goals is a useful practice for focusing on five aspects that help you re-evaluate your goals in detail for your Eight Dimensions of Wellness, and practice effective actions that increase the chance of you making the desired adjust- ments and improvements for your life.
SPECIFIC
Be clear about your goal. Stating a clear goal will make it easier to start and achieve.
MEASURABLE
Track your goals. Tracking helps you to see your progress and tells you when a goal is complete.
ATTAINABLE
Make each goal actionable. Actionable goals ensure the steps to get there are within your control.
RELEVANT
Keep your goals realistic. Establishing realistic goals helps them properly fit into your everyday life without overstretching yourself.
TIMELY
Set a timeline for completion. Setting a timeline keeps you focused, motivated, and inspired to work towards the completion of your goals.
